"This piece has been created in response to the smoke from the Australian wildfires that reached Chile in January 2020. FUME begins with a creative soundscape response with long-time music collaborators Georgina Treloar (Australia) and Memo Dumay (Chile) and manifests in a live improvised performance with George Clift, Ross Blair, and Georgina Treloar" - Profound Sound Festival 2020, Folkestone (UK).

This sound work consists mostly of field recordings, made in extremely isolated locations in the southern hemisphere. Soundscapes from the Australian desert; from the Amazon rainforest; from geyser craters in the Chilean altiplano; and whale sounds recorded in Antarctic waters by the hydrophone from PALAOA-S acoustic observation experiment. The 4th segment of the album is the live performance that the group (Treloar, Clift and Blair) gave during the Profound Sound Festival at Folkestone, in February 2020.

The piece was premiered the 22nd February at Profound Sound Festival 2020, in Folkestone (UK), with the visual work of Helen Lindon, and the musicians George Clift, Ross Blair and Georgina Treloar.
All the editing and mix were made in the Chufle Unit, Paris by Memo Dumay early in 2020.
